Installation Directory

Before installing the STLinux distribution, you might like to give some thought to the directory where it will be installed. All the files will be installed into /opt/STM/STLinux-version. In many cases making sure that there is sufficient space on this file system will be sufficient. As a rule of thumb, each architecture which is installed will require 600Mb disk space.

However, some people may be concerned about the security of the installed programs. The installation will create a root file system for the target, and this includes device files and set-uid programs. If this is of concern, you recommend that you create the installation directory in a new partition. This will allow additional options to be supplied when mounting the file system on the host (for example nosuid and nodev). Note that this change should only be made after the installation is complete.
